Process Service in South CarolinaWhat is Process Service?

Process Service in South Carolina is a formal procedure giving legal notice to a person through delivered documentation. Legal documents such as summons and complaints, subpoenas, writs and other court documents are delivered to the individual to whom the action is directed.  Process Service in South Carolina must be performed by an individual who is not a party to the case. What Does a Process Server Do?

Process Service in South Carolina is performed by a Process Server who is an individual that delivers (or serves) legal documents to a defendant or other named party involved in a court case. The Process Server must serve the documents in accordance with the Rules of Civil Procedure provided by the State of issuance.  This may mean handing the documents to the defendant directly or substitute serving to an individual in the same household or business. Once the documents are delivered, the Process Server must provide proof that the papers were served. This is done through a document called an Affidavit of Service, also called Proof of Service, which is then filed with the court by the Process Server or Client. Process Servers may also retrieve documents from courts.

Do I Need a Process Server?

Hiring a Process Server is an important step in proceeding with a court case. Even if a Process Server does not need to be licensed in the state where you need service, you should keep in mind that a Process Server is someone who is experienced in serving legal documents efficiently and legally. Most importantly, professional Process Servers are knowledgeable of the legislation and Rules of Civil Procedure involved with the State of issuance of the document(s). If the service is not performed in accordance with the law, this can hinder your case from moving forward or may even result in the dismissal of your case.

Carolina Investigative Associates offers the same excellent service; whether only one document needs to be served or any volume of serves large or small are required. We provide process service in all counties in the State of South Carolina.

How Much Does it Cost to Have Papers Served?

In general, Process serving rates can vary from case to case and state to state. Same day or rush serves are typically billed at a higher rate. Please ask to receive our current Rate Schedule.
